ACT Properties
The ACT Government has implemented changes regarding home swimming pool safety, emphasising the importance of swimming pool safety barriers. These reforms will take effect on May 1, 2024, allowing homeowners a four-year transition period to ensure their swimming pool or spa meets the prescribed safety standards for barriers.
NOTE: Compliance Certificates (Available from 1 May 2024)
During transition period (from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2028)
- You must obtain a Certificate of Compliance
- Compliance Certificate will be valid until 30 April 2032
- Lodgement of Compliance Certificate with Government
After transition period (from 1 May 2028)
- Must obtain a compliance certificate only if selling or leasing a property
- Compliance Certificate is valid for 5 years
During transition period (from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2028)
- You DO NOT need to obtain a Certificate of Compliance
After transition period (from 1 May 2028)
- Must obtain a compliance certificate only if selling or leasing a property
- Compliance Certificate is valid for 5 years
During transition period (from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2028)
- You DO NOT need to obtain a Certificate of Compliance
After transition period (from 1 May 2028)
- Must obtain a compliance certificate only if selling or leasing a property (or use a current CoO for the pool and safety barrier that is not older than 5 years)
- Compliance Certificate is valid for 5 years
